Michael P. Mergen

Mike Mergen graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southwest Missouri State University in May, 1985. In 1988, he received his juris doctor degree from the University of Missouri School of Law, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class, and was an Editor of The Journal of Dispute resolution. He began his legal career in Kansas City, Missouri and then relocated his law practice to Springfield in May, 1991 when he joined the Hall, Ansley law firm.

Mike has devoted his legal career to helping injured people who have suffered an injury at work or whose lives have been changed by negligent acts. Currently, his major focus is on representing individuals injured in the work place who need his assistance navigating the complex area of workers compensation law. In the last decade, he has successfully represented hundreds of injured workers. He is also devoted to representing individuals injured due to auto or truck accidents, or from faulty products.  He received the Equal Access to Justice Award for outstanding service to the clients of Legal Aid of Southwest Missouri. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Kids' Chance, which provides financial scholarships for children of permanently or catastrophically injured or deceased workers to complete their education. 

Personal:
Mike has two wonderful daughters who are active in the arts and Western European language study.  His wife Debra is a registered nurse at Cox Health Centers  Debra is President of a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the eradication of breast cancer. As a family, they enjoy hiking, gardening, and bicycling. Mike is an avid runner and has completed several marathons.
