What is the top safety gear for construction sites?

On Behalf of | Jun 7, 2018 | Construction Accidents, Firm News |

Work on a construction site in Missouri can be dangerous. You probably have had plenty of safety training if you work in this field. You understand the risks and know what you should do. However, accidents happen on construction sites daily. The best way to prevent serious injuries and death is to use the right safety gear. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, your employer should make sure that you have the following safety gear when you are on the job.

You should always wear a hard hat when on site. Your hat should be inspected regularly for damage. You also should be provided with proper eye protection based on the job you are doing, along with gloves, if needed. All of these items are considered personal protection devices because they protect your body.

Beyond personal protection, your employer should also provide you with other safety equipment that keeps the job site safe. This includes providing fall protection if you work at heights and posting warning signs throughout the site at points where accidents could occur. In addition, you should be given proper safety training so you understand how all safety devices and equipment work, along with understanding how to properly use equipment.

Hazardous substances are another risk on a construction site. All materials should have proper labels and you should be taught how to properly work with these substances to minimize exposure and risks. You also need to be given the correct equipment, such as gloves and breathing apparatuses, needed to protect you from exposure. This information is for education and is not legal advice.
